This, is probably the HARDEST part of being a parent, not that I’m one or anything like that!!!
Watching you make the same mistakes I had, knowing the outcomes of your actions, because I was there once, a very long time ago, I would be tempted, to STOP you, in your tracks, but, I’d held myself back, because there are just, lessons in life you must learn, for yourself my child…
Watching you make the same mistakes I had, because that, is what parents do, no matter how much we want to prevent our young from getting hurt, they will, still get hurt, and, there’s NO way that we, as parents will be able to be there for them, 24/7, for the rest of their lives, so, the sooner we learn to let go, the better it would be, for us all!
Watching you make the same mistakes I had, there’s NO other way for you to learn this, child, and, because I needed to learn things the hard way, that, is what I’m making you do, you may think of me as being cruel, because I could’ve prevented you from those scars, scabs, as well as the broken hearts, but, what’s a life, without you having the chance to experience it firsthand.
Watching you make the same mistakes I had, that, is what I’m going to do, now, you may wonder, WHY, I’m allowing you to test the waters on your own, because you NEED to know your limits, without me setting them for you, because I won’t always be there, to hold your hand, to keep you safe from harm, and, this, is a hard lesson that I’m bound to teach you, and you will learn it, the HARD way, just as I had too!
