This is, the DANGERS of online interactions, from the Front Page Sections, translated…

The teenager, Lopez from Massachusetts claimed that when he went traveling to Spain, he was raped by the owner of a bed and breakfast he’d found on Airbnb, and was taken hostage, and in the end, he’d told the owner of the house, that his friends are about to come find him, and that was how he was able to make his escape.  The New York Times reported, that this traumatic experience he had in Madrid had caused Lopez to need post-traumatic treatment right now, and, his tale of horror showed, that the Airbnb platform, although, it offers a lot of the cheaper and convenient deals for the backpackers, the travelers still must pay close attention to their own safety concerns.

Lopez told, that the owner of the B&B he stayed at was a man, but dressed himself up as a woman, “she” had locked Lopez up in her apartment, asked to have sex with him, and when he didn’t comply, “she” would give him hell, and the very night he’d arrived, “he’d gotten raped”.  The owner of the B&B denied the accusations, claimed that the sex was consensual.

Airbnb was set up back in2008, the headquarter is located in San Francisco, people can use computer or cell phone, to post, to search for, and to book the bed and breakfasts all over the world.  Every weekend, globally, there are about 800,000 people who found a place to stay in on the website.  The problem is, how much responsibilities should the website take, for the safety of the clients?  Take from Lopez’s example, he’d texted his S.O.S. to his mother on July fourth, his mother complained that Airbnb took a very passive attitude to handling the matters.

As Lopez’s mother got her son’s texted S.O.S., she didn’t know where the bed and breakfast was located, so she couldn’t find help.  The employees from Airbnb stated, that they’re not supposed to disclose the location of the bed and breakfast, and wouldn’t help her call the police, they’d only handed her the number for the Madrid police department, and had her call them herself.  But, this number was a Spanish automated service, and she kept getting hung up.  Lopez’s mom can only call up Airbnb again, in the end, the call got routed to voice mail.  In the end, Lopez had broken free from the prison he was kept in, by telling the homeowner, that he’d told his friend where he was staying, and had given the friend the address, that if he didn’t show, that his friend will come and find him, and that, was when the homeowner allowed him to leave.

The spokesperson of Airbnb told the Daily Post: “Rape is a global issue, but because each country has different rules on it, the assistance that the online platforms can offer is very limited.”

New York reported, that Airbnb stated, that after the Lopez case, the company already clarified the techniques of the company, said, that in case of emergency, Airbnb will immediately notify the police.

Yeah, but this young man was still RAPED, because those IDIOTS are too kempt on privacy issues, are you FUCKING shitting me here?  And this just still shows, how it is, dangerous, to book your vacations online, especially when you’re looking for a cheap place to stay in.
