Observation of the outside world here, translated…
That day, I’d gone out with a friend I hadn’t seen in a very long time, we’d discussed it for a very long time, not knowing where to go for our lunch, and so, we’d met up, and strolled down the streets, as we sought out a place to eat at.
As we strolled along, we sat a small diner with a homey setup, a simple diner, with developmentally delayed individuals working there, there were a couple of the employees, outside the diner, ushering the people in, and, in the shop, there was a display of a variety of breads, and there were also, a cute couple of small tables as well, our eyes lit up, and immediately, we’d pushed through the front doors, and, ordered up two different dishes and shared them.
Although the waiters who brought us our food were a bit slow, they acted really careful, as they executed every single movement; but, I clearly understood, that those actions that are considered to be simple to ordinary people, heaven only knows how many times these children had to practice the actions, until they are perfected, and how long it must’ve taken them all, to master all the actions too.
And, I’d started wondering, how much time the family members behind these developmentally delayed individuals must have put in, how much patience, how much heart must’ve gone into, and, the endless number of defeats they all had faced previously, the tears, and the stresses too, and helped the children finally, get outside, to face this world that’s too complicated, with those who are considered as “normal” people.
Whether it be the deliveries of my ordered meal, serving us the teas after the meals, or cleaning up the tables, I’d smiled toward them, and looked them in the eyes told them, “Thanks, you’d worked very hard today!”, and, what they’d returned back to me was, that most genuine smile, and that sort of exchange was beyond any payment can get me, it was very pure, and beautiful to me.
After we’re full, my friend and I bought some handmade breads, and, I couldn’t help but gloat as I told my friend, “The wedding cakes I’d sent to my relatives and friends are also from a factory with workers who are developmentally delayed, it’s truly tasty, although the packages weren’t decorated that well, but, they did put a lot of heart into making the treats, and those who’d received the packages told us, that the snacks tasted amazing!”
After my friend heard, she’d replied, “I think that we had an amazing lunch today, they’re so very wonderful and amazing servers, I will show my support to them, by taking my family here next time!”
And so, this, is from the everydayness, and, there are, a lot of handicapped individuals who are working hard, to make their lives matter, and so, we should ALL show a little more support to them, for their efforts in their hard work.
