Despite the misfortunes in his childhood years, he’d still overcome the obstacles in life, and become, from the Newspapers, translated…
The middle school graduate from Chih-Mei Middle School in Penghu, Wu, his parents died when he was very young, he was raised by his grandparents, he’d loved art since he was a child, but because of a lack of resource, he’d never pursued his interests, until in his last year of middle school when he’d attended “the Seedlings of Art Forum”, that, was when he’d started drawing, three years ago, he’d managed to get into the Art Courses of Magong High School, and now, he’s accepted into National Taiwan University of Arts, the two of them were the first examples of students who were accepted into the art schools.
The Chih-Mei Middle school has only fifty four students, and the school didn’t have an art teacher, plus the location of the school was in Penghu, away from the mainland, it’d lacked the resources, in the earlier times, there were rarely any students who pursued arts. In recent years, the school pushed forth the “Getting More Artsy, Chih-Mei” program, and had the performers and the art workers to teach at the school, and the students started excelling in areas of music, art, calligraphy, and the drumline had once won the championship trophy of the international competitions too, the Department of Education yesterday asked the school to show an exhibition of their results.
The school principal, Wu pointed out, that there are only three classes in the school, in the seventeen years she’d taught there, the school had NEVER hired a specialty arts teacher, in the year 2011, when she’d taken over as the principal, she’d set up the “Seedling of Arts Forum”, asked along the retired artistic workers, and teachers, to teach the students to draw, to write calligraphy for free.
Wu was raised by his almost eighty-year-old, farming grandparents. Wu the principal said, that Wu had become rebellious in middle school, passed through his rebellious stage, until someone noticed his artistic talents, he’d turned over a new leaf, not only was he able to get into the art class program of Makong High School, he’d also gotten into the Sculpting major of National Taiwan University of Arts, and a kind stranger put up the funds, and is willing to put up the money for him going abroad to study in the future too.
Wu said, there’s NO art program in Chih-Mei, he’d found his way in art class on his own, until the last year of his middle school, he’d gotten involved in the “Seedling Forum”, when the teachers from outside the school came to teach him how to draw, that was when he’d confirmed his area of interest: grandma was originally against this path, feared that I couldn’t keep myself fed, but after my principal kept convincing her, she was finally agreeing.
And so, this young man’s hard work still paid off, he’d had that immense interest in art, but, because of his background, his circumstances, he’d never gotten any formal training, but, with his own fulfilling his own dreams, he was able to finally, reach the stars, and now, he will be, living his dreams.
