Mental health issues here, translated…
My mother who’d been troubled with bipolar disorder long-term now, because of a smart phone, she’d gotten that needed mood lift now. That day, I’d gotten a call from her out of the blue, said she’d wanted to talk to me via video messaging on her phone, I was shocked, it’s hard to imagine, that just a month ago, turning the phone on had, scared her.
Awhile ago, seeing how others are sliding on their cells, my mother who lived on the borderlines of technology asked for one too.
And, being a member of the Lowered Heads is NO easy task, the seemingly easy to manage process, it’d caused mom to keep her fingers in midair, wanting to, but not daring, to tap, fearing, that with one wrong tap, she couldn’t go back again. And for this, at first, she’d always stared at the cell phone screens anxiously and dumbfounded.
In our encouragements and training, she’d slowly opened up her heart, slowly, learned how to work her cell phone, every day became a new discovery for her, she’d shared with us, gladly, what she’d discovered for the day, “I’d asked my coworker today, I’d learned how to send the LINE pictures now.”
My mother’s sense of achievement from her learning to work the cell phones had caused the relapse of her bipolar to decline. Recently, she’d started busying herself again, from her cell, she’s advancing to taking computer courses at the community center.
So, the mother apparently just needed something to keep her mind busy, so she won’t get trapped by the negative emotions, and, she was able to overcome her mental problems by finding a brand new focus in life, in this case, it’s by taking up the new technologies.
