A Family with a Ton of Knowledge

Translated…

For a very long time, we no longer gathered in front of the TV to watch the news together, instead, each and every one of us got immersed in the cell phone world, we’d even relayed the messages of whose turn it is to do the dishes through LINE.

“Ah, just one more second! God DAMN it!”, my wife let out a yelp, I thought she was playing Candy Crush again, “Oh yeah!”, and, a moment later, it was filled with celebratory remarks, I couldn’t help, but walk over, to see exactly WHAT was going on, turns out, she was playing the trivia games of “King of Knowledge”, and she’d beaten her opponent.

My wife’s winning rate is eighty-eight percent, she’d gotten 400,000 points in score, although it was lower than my scores, but, she’d gotten a level fourteen rank. I’d watched her from the side, and, when there’s a question I knew the answers, I’d started to “itch”, and, I’d used my quick fingers to choose the answers for her, and, as the points rose up high, I’d felt that high too, and she’d started to scream at me, “This is MY game, I know the answers to you know!”

As my son heard us bickering, he’d come and watch us in battle, and, when there’s question he’d known the answers to, he’d claimed, “Let me do this one!”, heard him called out the answers, my wife used her finger and tapped, and, when the answer was correct, my wife and son would start hooraying and hollering out of joy.

Later on, after supper, the four of us would engage ourselves in rounds of “Knowledge King”. English and TV shows are my wife’s areas, she could answer 90 percent of the questions correctly; literature and news were my areas of expertise; physical science and geography, my eldest son’s, life and music, my youngest son’s, and the rest of the categories, whoever knows the answers, answer.

Everybody showed their own skills, and, we’d won almost every single round. Sometimes, my sons felt that the questions are too easy, and I’d played the advance version, to beat t hem, the ones we’d gotten wrong, we’d taken as lessons learned, it’s a gain in itself. And, this sort of a joyful atmosphere got to the members of the family, and, we’d gotten that getting-along well feel back again.

So, this, is how this family connect, by playing a game together, and, because they all have separate areas of expertise, that makes the game better shared.
