A Man Pulled the Plugs on His Own Mother Who Had a Stroke Then Smothered Her to Death, Claimed that He Was Way Too Strained From Caring for Her

A tragedy for the family here, from the Front Page Sections, translated…

The forty-nine year-old man, Chiang yesterday, unplugged his own mother who had had a stroke for many years at the hospital, then, covered up her nose and mouth, causing her to die; Chiang’s younger brother told, that his older brother had been caring for his mother for many years, and that he wasn’t “surprised, and willing to forgive him” on the fact, that his brother had, murdered his mother.  The police took Chiang in on murder charges, and the D.A. mandated house arrest for him.

As the police took Chiang into questioning, he wreaked of alcohol, and was out of it, at first, he’d claimed that he’d left the hospital ward to smoke, that the tubes were disconnected by his mother, and the police consoled him, told him they knew how much stress there must have been on him, to care for his ailing mother all alone on his own, that, was when Chiang came clean and admitted that he was the one, unplugging his mother from the machines.

The police investigated, that Chiang was caring for his seventy-seven year old mother who lived in a single’s suite at the Changgang Hospital in Kaohsiung, yesterday morning at a little past midnight, he’d told the orderlies, “I will take care of my mother, you don’t need to come by to check on her so regularly.”  An hour later, as the female nurse, Yang went into the ward, to check the elderly woman’s vitals, she found that all the tubes had been disconnected, and Chiang wasn’t in the room, she’d immediately called up the doctors to resuscitate the elderly, but, they still couldn’t save her life.

As the police received the call, they’d rushed to the Changgang Hospital in Kaohsiung, Chiang didn’t try to escape, he’d told the police, “Taking care of my mother made me so strained”.  The manager of the subprecint of Chiang’s local region said, that the suspect didn’t say he had any economical troubles, just said that his mother had been diagnosed with a stroke for many years, and that she undergoes dialysis regularly, that he didn’t want to watch her keep suffering.

The family owned a furniture store in the early years, the second son, Chiang worked as the delivery truck driver for the business, several years ago, after the furniture store had ended, Chiang shouldered the responsibilities for caring for his ailing mother.

“He (meaning Chiang) is wonderful in everything, but he’s a bad drunk”, Chiang’s father, who was interviewed last night spoke.  The police stated, that Chiang had priors in public endangerment, and assault charges on him, all after he got drunk.

Chiang’s younger brother stated, that his older brother was the primary caretaker of their mother, because of his work, he could only make weekly visits, and, his mother couldn’t speak from the stroke, and so, he couldn’t know what his older brother did, or said to his mother, and that now that this had happened, he’ll leave everything up to the law.

Chiang’s father and younger brother both told, that before the mother died, she’d loved Chiang the best, and, as she’d fallen ill, he was the one, looking after her, and Chiang had told the family, “I think mom is in pain”, and, that he’d unplugged his own mother, “We’re not surprised at all, and, we’re all, willing to forgive him.”

And so, this, is the result, of having too much strain on the caretaker, because, the caretakers of an aging elderly person WILL crack, especially with assault priors like this man had, and, he’s a bad drunk too, and, all of that, combined, into him, murdering his mother, and, whether or not the reasons for his murder of his mother WAS justified, it doesn’t really matter, does it?  Of course N-O-T!
