CORRELATION, NOT a CAUSATION, hello, hello, hello??? From the Front Page Sections, translated…
The murder on the MRT by Jie Cheng a year ago, to the current murder of an elementary age child in the schools, the media would often blame the perpetrators for being too intrigued by violent video games, intrigue with comics, that these had, affected their personalities from developing normally. This, is one of the reasons, but not all the causes of the events.
Normally, the backgrounds of these killers shared some common beliefs: lack of hope for ones’ own futures, or are castaways of a group, and that, was why they’d taken their angers caused by a few of the members out on the public. The society we’re living in, seemingly peaceful, but, this sort of equality on the surface had, caused the structures of the society to get bent out of shape.
Every time, the end of the reports always tell us, to show more care and concerns toward others around you, but, we were trained, to compete with others since when we were younger, and, even IF this newly reformed education had added in the requirements of volunteering, how many are actually helping, out of the goodness of their hearts? And, how long can someone continue this helping out, after they’re out of school? The focus is still placed on the grades, and moral education is ignored, it’d made the modern day man, not responsible for their own words and behaviors also.
When the media reports on this sort of crimes, it’d shown this imbalance, in the structures of our societies, that there must be something wrong with the way we’re educating, but, “intrigued with video games, reading comics in excess” seemed to be the baselines of these sort of reports, and, there are NO retracing back to the younger days of the perpetrators, how s/he was educated, and how the way s/he was brought up had influenced her/him.
So, this is merely stating, how the media just focused on the outcomes, and NOT what had caused these outcomes, and, playing videogames still doesn’t make you commit murders, and, some of those gamers go on, to compete in the international realms, and won many awards, so, what do you say to that? And this still shows how we need to dig DEEPER, to find the cause of why someone had done something awful, instead of just focusing on what is seen at hand, trace back to the roots of things, then, you can make your claims, otherwise, don’t!
