She’d Worked as a Dish Washer, and Thirteen Years Later, She Became the CEO of the Group

Starting from Ground Zero, working her way up the corporate ladder here, from the Front Page Sections, translated…

The fifty-four year old, Li-Ching Wan started the Reaping Great Group for thirteen years, she said, that there’s NO key to entrepreneurship, “I’d just told myself, that no matter what I’m doing, I needed to put everything into it.”

Yesterday, Wan was invited, as a speaker for the forum for youths, where she’d shared the experiences of her entrepreneurship.  The Reaping Great Group started out, as a small-scale restaurant, and, when she’d entered the company, she was a dishwasher who made $60N.T.s/hour.  And now, she’s the CEO of the group, other than the restaurants, there are also bookstores, as well as apartment complexes which are all a part of the group.

Wang said, that when she was a home ec manor in Teacher’s University, she, like a lot of the students in college, had no goals for life, she doesn’t have any thoughts about her future, after she’d graduated, she’d become a home ec teacher in middle school like she’s supposed to be.  Every day, she’d taught students to cook, to make handicrafts, “I’m happy there, but found the work a little lacking in challenges”.  Five years ago, she’d decided to get out of her comfort zone, and, entered into a whole new realm, the bedding industry, worked as a buying agent, she’d gotten the chance to travel abroad for business, broadened her horizon.

Thirteen years ago, Wan’s life took another turn, she’d become a member of the “Good Stuff Restaurant”, gone to the restaurant to work as a dishwasher, and picked up the pays of $60N.T.s an hour, and she’d gotten interested in the restaurant business, started researching into the matter.  A month later, she’d bought the stocks, and became, a shareholder of the company.

After she took over the restaurant, she’d found that the small scale restaurants couldn’t make that much money, and so, as she was beginning to ponder how to combine the catering and the sales of the high end products, the company asked her if the restaurant provided for finger foods for the parties, she’d told them yes right away.

Wan told, that back then, she had NO idea what finger food was, but, because she didn’t want to miss out on the opportunities, she’d immediately said yes.

After her first catering service earned her the reputations, Chanel, Hermes, both wanted her as the caterer of their events.  Later on, Wan crossed the industries from food into books, and set up the “VVG Something Good Going on”, which earned the awards of the top twenty most beautiful bookstores in the world.

And so, because this woman was constantly searching for innovations, and she wasn’t afraid of trying out how the different industries worked, that, is how she’d become so successful, and this also shows, that if you work hard, you can go from a nobody, and become a somebody, like this woman had.
