Life, the Obstacle Course

The Rules of Education that My Children Affirmed

From the mind of a mother, translated…

From when my son was in school, to him getting employed, he’d had a smooth ride, the company he’d worked for is a topnotch in the industry, publicly traded too, after work, he’d also tutored his coworkers’ children.  In these couple of days, I’d struck up a conversation with him on the methods of education, he’d had a ton of things to share with me, he said, “The kids now, raised in the high-tech age, would often played on the electronic devices until they’d let their academics slide, and they don’t read as much either; plus the parents are way too busy at work, and would take a laissez-faire attitude in teaching their young, I’m truly worried for these children.”

Recalling back to his own childhood, my son found, that no matter what he’d done, he’d followed a set of strict rules, and now, he’d still complained about how back then, I’d set up the rules for him and his younger sister, to play the video games, only on the weekends, and that after they’d played for an hour, they must stop to rest, and, that if their grades didn’t measure up, then, the privilege of the games were taken away, back then, he was truly unhappy about my rules; but now, thinking back, he felt glad, that I’d placed restrictions on his scheduling back then.

Hearing him telling me that, I was, truly shocked!  What’s more importantly, he’d told me, that if he were to have kids in the future, he will teach his own children the way I’d taught him.  It’d made me feel so relieved, as his words, had become, an affirmation of me, as a mother!

And so, this just shows, that having STRICT rules for your kids is a must, because when they were still young, they’re easily influenced, and, if you don’t set up the rules, and enforce them, how the HELL will they pick up the right kinds of values, and, although this son felt displeased at how his mom would limited his play time when he was a kid growing up, looking back, he’d realized, that his mom was doing right by him.
