Giving Her Hair a “New” Life

Let’s see what’s happening here, shall we???  Translated…

My daughter wanted nothing more than to have black long head of hair since she was younger.  But, as the academic pressures piled on top of her, and, it takes a very long time, to care for her hair, it’d made my husband and I nag her constantly, even my mother-in-law got involved in the persuasions.  And yet, this young lady turned DEAF, would rather take long hours, caring for her hair, stayed to her own ways.

But that day, things seemed to have taken a turn.  In the evening, we’d gone for that usual stroll to the park nearby, as the gentle evening breeze blew, it’d made us feel all too relaxed.  My daughter got serious all of a sudden, that she’d wanted to discuss something with me, it was, quite shocking to me, actually.  Because as she’d entered into puberty, she’d gotten a mind of her own, became very opinionated, and distanced herself from us by the day.  I saw my daughter, worked hard, to get the words out, then finally, she’d told me, that she wanted to cut her long hair off, and donate the hair to someone who needs it more than she does.

My daughter told me, she’d searched online, that the hair that’s trimmed must be over thirty centimeters, to be made into a wig.  She felt, that her hair was long enough, hoped that I could help her find out, where is a place that she can go to, to get her hair donated.  I’d finally understood, that my daughter was not nostalgic about her long head of hair, that she’d wanted to give a different meaning to her hair.

Later on, we’d decided to donate to the Da-Guan Chou Foundation, to allow those who are in need, to have a black head of pretty hair.  As I’d taken her to the stylist, and told her about my daughter’s decision, the stylist, who’d groomed her since she was a child said, no wonder that NO matter what, she’d refused to get her hair cut short, it’s the young woman’s heart.  The hairstylist told my daughter, how her hair would be taken care of after she’d donated it.  My daughter had never had a perm in her fourteen years of life, and worked hard, to treat her hair, this, will be the BEST kind of gift for someone who receives it; she’d suggested, that my daughter could get an even shorter do, so, there would be more styling to the hair she’d donated.

I was very moved, by the decision of my daughter donating her hair, and knew, that girls are taken by beauty, that cutting off thirty centimeters is no easy thing for her, feared, that the hairstylist’s suggestion would make my daughter back away.  But, my daughter, without ANY hesitation, said that the stylist can trim her hair however way she saw fitting.  And, CHOP, CHOP!  With the opening and closing of the scissors, the fourteen years’ worth of hair, gained brand new life!  I’d measured it secretively, my daughter had gotten a total of fifty centimeter’s worth of hair trimmed off.

With a fashionable short hairdo, my daughter is not only beautiful on the surface, she has an even more beautiful heart!

And so, here, we have a child, with ALTERNATIVE plans than what the adults can think of, and, this young woman had stayed to her goals, of donating her hair, and, because she’d made up her mind on giving her trimmed hair away, she doesn’t feel any loss over the originally longer hair, it’s a kind of giving, that’s too priceless, that’s for sure!
