The love of a mother for her son, translated…

Mei-Mei’s son would stay up in the mountains, filming wildlife all year long, every time she’d seen her son busying about, preparing the equipment and food items for his filming crew, she’d felt that sense of incongruence.

Other than feeling bad about how her son needed to carry so much, she’d also feared that the foods he’d brought wouldn’t last him long enough, and, several times, she’d grabbed a few handful of rice, packed a few extra nonperishable items in his backpack; but, after her son came back, he’d always complained about it to her.

Because climbing up the mountains is not the same as walking on flat land, the reduction of air supplies is almost not enough, to fill up the needs, and, even the slightest extra weight would become huge burdens.

And so, her son as well as the crew would always calculate the head count of those who are hiking up with them, and prepacked the needed food items and water.

Because of this, before she bought her bread baking machines, this mother started her days to chase the sun.

Mei-Mei changed the roof, left an movable window, every time it didn’t rain, she’d not wasted a minute of it; early in the morn, she’d worked hard, cleaning, chopping up all the fruits and vegetables, then, climbed up the steps, put everything out on the roof, so the food items can dry up, so her son could have it when he makes his way up the mountains again.

And, on the days when she had to go out, feared that it may rain, or it may become dark, that she couldn’t get home in time, to take everything back into her house, she’d placed the fruits and vegetables into her car, on the backseat and the board, so, the sun can shine down through the windows, just as she’s shining her love down on her son too.

The old verses, there was a story of a man who chased after the son, the giant man who’s agile wanted to capture the sun, so the winters won’t get so cold, and the summers, won’t be too hot, the floods casted away, and, no more droughts, so his people can have a good harvest and a good life every year, so, he’d chased after the sun night and day.

And now, Mei-Mei, a loving mother, in order to lighten the load on her son’s pack, she’d worked hard, chased after the sun too; recalling how her shadow was casted down by the sun, it’s as if, I saw the picture of Buddha, shining his love down.

And so, this, is the love of a mother, she wanted her son to have the things he’d needed, and didn’t want to place any strains on him, and so, she’d home made the items so her son could have the foods as he’d needed, and at the same time, it wouldn’t be too heavy for him to carry.
