Life, the Obstacle Course

The Days We Were in Debt

Between a husband and a wife, translated…

It’s been two years since my husband failed at his business venture, and, I’m responsible, for making the expenses meet up in our household.  Back then, my husband disregarded the worries of the family, and insisted on going into business with his friend, in a field he’s not at all familiar with.  I’d wanted to communicate with him, but, we got arguments instead, he said, he was doing it, for the sake of this house, why wouldn’t I support him?  In the end, I could only hand him the money, I KNOW I will NEVER see again.

A year later, my husband told me, that his friend cheated him, I’d told him to move back south, with this aching in my heart.  I was crushed, by trying, to make my household expenses meet up, my husband’s salaries goes to paying up his debts, my wages were given to our parents, paying into my child’s school fees, the mortgages, the car payments, as well as the utilities bills as well; and, the company I worked for is no longer as well as it used to be, the overtimes are reduced as well.  But gladly, my parents could understand that we are strained on money, and my son knew how to save up on things, applied for student loans, to help him pay for his fees from school.

At first, it was hard, for me, to adjust to needing to nickel and dime everything, until this year, I’d realized, that without the desires for things, we can live comfortably too.  Slowly, not only is the money in our bank accounts increased, we’d slowly paid up our mortgage too!  Although we’re not as well-to-do as we once were, but, we’d still not lacked anything in life, and, I hoped that the days we’d paid up the debts would not be far off, so, my husband and I can have a peaceful retirement life afterwards.

And so, slowly, you’d paid up your debts, and, you’d weathered through the hardships slowly, and, it was hard, but, you still managed, to get through the difficulties of your life, slowly…
