The interview with the founder, from the Front Page Sections, translated…
“I not only just wanted to share the story of TOMS, I wanted to inspire more to get involved in the society-oriented enterprises.” The founder, Mycozie who’d started the One For One idea for his company, TOMS, after he walked off the plane, had given an exclusive interview with the newspaper. Being here for the very first time, he will be holding a forum on the matters of his work, and have a face-to-face session, with the entrepreneurs in Taiwan.
Mycozie had founded TOMS at age twenty-nine, used shoes as a starting point, and merged the ideals of giving back to the community with operating of an enterprise, for every pair of shoes sold, he’d donated a pair, the company had donated thirty-five million pairs of shoes to date, and this was called, the TOMS Miracle. And, this miracle had extended, been developed into making the sunglasses, coffees, and purses and bags as well, and they’d all followed the ideas of “sell one, donate one”, and this helped the third world nations in the world improve the problems of the visions, clean water, as well as the environment pollution problems too.
“The reasons why TOMS is so successful is because people needed a positive model for after the financial storms that hit the world.” Mycozie pointed out, that shortly after he’d set up his company, TOMS, he was hit, by the slow decline of the global economy, but, miraculously, with ALL the enterprises, losing business, TOMS still made profits.
Mycozie believed, that it’s because people saw the problems with capitalism, how it’d focused too much on profit, and, TOMS that was generation in its operating methods of selling a pair, donating a pair, had managed, to fill up that void inside the people, and, it’d helped the public understand, that enterprises can also have positive influences on the world as well, and since, TOMS had been operating well.
“The time where the enterprises are solely focused on making the profits has ended!”, Mycozie believed, that in this day and age, an ideal enterprise must tailor to the needs of the company’s interests, as well as looking out for the needs of the masses, as well as the world, and, masses here, is NOT those who are buying shoes from Mycozie company, but everybody in the world.
The original team members, Bilbo, and Lisa came too. Bilbo laughed and told, that back when Mycozie set up TOMS, he was still an intern in the university, and he couldn’t imagine that TOMS had grown, to become a global enterprise now. “Working alongside Mycozie, I could feel endless inspirations, and, the process is always fun.”
And so, here, we have a man, who worked hard, to make a difference, and, he’d started with something so simple, as providing shoes for those who needed them, and, this sort of enterprises will become the trend of this world, as we all needed stories, instances of hope, and, this man and his company, as well as his team members, are making magic happen in the world, by helping out, by giving back to the community.
