On changing tracks, translated…
My high school classmate, Chang-Zhen, worked for many years as a information technology engineer for many years, he’d made a lot of money; it’s just that his boss made some bad investments, causing the business to lose a LOT of money, and so, he could only end the operations, causing Chang-Zhen to lose his job overnight.
Chang-Zhen couldn’t cope with how all of a sudden, he’d lost his source of income, immediately sent out his résumés right away. But his wife told him there’s NO need to hurry, plus their child was just born, he could stay at home, take care of their baby, and save a TON on the fees of getting the child a nanny, and there wouldn’t need to be worries of the unknown risks when the baby is left in some unknown strangers’ care. And, he could also take a break, and slowly, search for a more fitting job. As for the expenses of the family, with Chang-Zhen’s wife working as a consultant, they can make it all right. Chang-Zhen thought that his wife’s idea was great, and changed his belief of “men should take care of bringing in the bacon and bread”, tried his hands out on being a stay-at-home husband.
But, Chang-Zhen who had been served on hand and foot had NO idea of how to handle the household chores. But, in order to work hard, raising their child, and keep the house, he’d learned how to do the dishes, make the foods, and hang up the laundry, as well as other household items from his able-bodied wife. Several months later, he’d gotten used to this sort of life, he could go and bargain with the vendors at the marketplaces before the crack of dawn, managed to get the fresh produce cheap; and, he could also put on his apron with glee, and become a master chef, start cooking up the foods. More importantly, he got to accompany his son, take care of him every single day, play with him, enjoy being a stay-at-home daddy.
In order to play the role of a stay-at-home husband more fittingly, Chang-Zhen also would ask for information from his friends who also have kids. A friend with whom he’d played basketball often with gave him two Italian handcrafted puppets, he couldn’t separate the toy from his son, and the child would play with it day in and day out. This gave Chang-Zhen some inspiration, he could important the toys from Europe, and sell it online, and, at the same time, his son could play it as a “test trial” too: is his son was having so much fun, then, it would be worthy, to import the puppets is huge amounts to sell them. At first, he’d used one hand, held the phones, contacted the international toy manufacturers, with one hand on the bottle, to feed his son; in the marketplaces, he’d picked up the techniques of negotiating with the vendors, it’d worked wonders, it’d allowed him to import the toys at a cheaper prices, then, sell it online at a much higher price. The quality of the toys he’d imported are very high, and, the toys are delicate too, he’d received a TON of order slips, and, his son was happy, because he could get his hands on new toys constantly.
Chang-Zhen now, no longer is submitting his résumés to the headhunters, instead, he worked at home, receiving the orders, and took care of his son. And, Chang-Zhen’s wife worked hard, on her job of consulting, with NO worries of the household matters, and gained amazing remarks from work too. Chang-Zhen believed, that this sort of a track change, made him able to look after his family and career too, it’s an unexpected gain too!
And so, this, is how a man saw an opportunity and did HIS homework, and, went HEAD in, to his ventures, and, it takes courage, to venture into something that he’d never done before, but because he’d done HIS “homework”, that, was what led him to be a HUGE success.
