Because she ran from her abusive husband, left her children, that, is why now, she’s NOT asking for them, to pay for her living, from the Front Page Sections, translated…

A woman, “Wen” left her home thirty years ago, leaving behind her three young kids, never visited, or shown any cares or concerns for them, last year, she’d sued them for alimony, living in poverty, she qualified for assistance, she’d begged the judge, to allow her children to not need to look after them, cried to her children, “I’m the one who owed you guys, don’t look after me”, the judge found that the children not responsible for caring for the woman, and, Wen had gotten the proves of qualifying for the low income assistance from the government.

The sixty year old woman, Wen last year had filed for low income assistance from the government, but because her three adult children all had steady jobs, she couldn’t qualify.  She said, that thirty years ago, she could no longer deal with her husband’s domestic violence, left her five, four, and one year old children, headed to Hsinchu to find work.

Wen said, later on, her husband filed for a divorce from her, she’d fallen in love with a man and moved in with him, without getting married, or having any more children again, until her boyfriend died two years ago, she’d gotten laid off by the factory, but, she’s elderly now and couldn’t find work, and because all three of her adult children had steady jobs, the system believed that she could be taken care of, so she couldn’t file for assistance, that, was why she’d sued.

The very first time the children and she had met, it was in court, they don’t know each other, and so, they could only stare one another down.  Wen’s children told the judge, that they were too young, to have ANY memories of their mother, couldn’t recall their father, beating their mother up, and, in the process of growing up, the other relatives always told them that their mother “whored around”, that, was why she’d left them, so they couldn’t forgive, and couldn’t believe, that their mother was showing up now, for the sake, of asking them for alimony.

As Wen heard her children’s accusations, she’d started crying in court, and apologized to them, claimed, that she was too young then, she couldn’t withstand the domestic violence, thought that she could run away from it all, hoped that the judge could make the kids not pay for living now, she just hoped to get qualified for low income support, and live off of the government assistance, “It’s my fault then, and now, this, is the karma for deserting you.”

The Not-For-Profit Attorney Assistance Foundation said, that the judge had verified with the families, the relatives, the neighbors, and confirmed, that after Wen left home, she’d NEVER tried getting BACK in touch with her children, that they have NO basis for connection, plus, Wen had filed for not wanting the children to care for her on her own, and so, the judge allowed for it, and, they’d reached an agreement.

And so, this, is another sad, sad tale, of how a mother was FORCED to run away from her family, because she was abused, and so, she must make her escape, and, by doing so, she’d left behind her young children, and that, is just a sad story in the world…
