Another CASE, of cyberbullying, from the Front Page Sections, translated…
A high school aged girl, Lai had a fallout with an old best friend, and was suspected of being cyberbullied by the other girl, she’d made up rumors about how she was involved in some sex scandals, spread it out online, attached with her photograph too, the entire school started talking about the story, causing her to breakdown, the school gave her counseling sessions, and she’s thinking of suing the other person for libeling.
This fake news had been spreading super quickly inside the school that the high school that Lai attended, with the title, “Can’t Judge a Book by Its Cover! A Plain-Looking High School Girl Set Up the Honey Traps with Her Own Older Brother to Scam Others”, in the contents, it’d libeled about how Lai, the good looking high school girl was found by her own boyfriend who was in the same school, to be flirting with other guys, how she was displeased at how he’d broken up with her, and asked her older brother to extort the ex for $100,000N.T., and got it too. The fake news represented the online news pages, with Lai’s photo, along with the picture of her and her brother together, at the end of the article, there was the reporter’s name and identification number from a certain newspaper attached, turns out, it was, all false.
The girl, Lai told, that before the New Year’s, she’d gotten into an argument with another girl in her class, and this semester she’d transferred out, and started posting libeling articles against her, said that she was fake, and stole someone else’s boyfriend, it’d troubled her so, she’d shut down her Facebook account because of it. She’d realized, that the fake news was spreading quick in her school, she’d called up her former classmate to confront her about it, ask her why she was libeling against her, the other girl stated, “Yeah, I’m talking about you, so?” “I really don’t know what to do”, Lai cried as she’d told, that people are pointing at her in school now, and, there are members of the online community who’d ranted on and on about how awful she is, she felt enormous pressures, she doesn’t even DARE turning on her Facebook pages, and for several nights, she’d hid underneath her covers and cried. Two days ago, she’d told her families about it, and the family remembered the incident with the female television personnel, and realized how serious it is, and told the school about it.
Yesterday, Lai was accompanied by her instructor, asked the other girl to STOP attacking her, or, she’s going to take her to court. The homeroom teacher said, that the two girls were once best-friends,, but they’d gotten into a fight over some minor things, because the other girl had forged her parents’ signatures on the absent slips, skipped too many classes, and the school counselor had, stepped in, the girl thought that it was her, and started to revenge by making up rumors.
The police said, that calling someone a bad name online is a punishable crime of libel and slander, and, at most, the person found guilty can be sent to prison for two years, and, used the name of the media, to make a falsified statement, the girl had broken the law on credibility, and she can also get two years in prison for it. And the media that was used in this attack clarified, that the news was not true, and that if it happens, they’re going to pursue whoever’s responsible legally.
And so, this, is still, cyberbullying, and, see how kids these days can go for one another’s throats for such little things? And, because you’re at that age, where it’s awkward enough, and, you had to deal with the changes inside of your bodies, school work, interactions with friends, classmates, along with the rest of the world, it all came crashing down.
