The actress, Yo-Ying Yang (originally Hsin-Yi Peng), was suspected to have commit suicide because of cyberbullying, her older brother, Peng yesterday apologized for the bad example she’d set for the world, but hoped that his younger sister’s death can bring about more awareness of the seriousness of verbal bullying, and he is going to set up the “Anti-Anonymous Bullying” activities on Facebook.
Peng showed Yo-Ying Yang’s cell phone, showed the influx of messages of care and concern from the outside world, thanked the public for the care and concer. He said, we couldn’t unlock my sister’s cell phone, and, we couldn’t turn her cell phone off, hope that my sister can sense this, “actually, there are, more who loved her, than those who talked badly about her, please, don’t go after the person behind the cyberbullying.”
Peng said, we just hoped that her departure from this world can wake others up, so they can help put an end to anonymously blacken someone else’s names, the family will set up the “Anti-Anonymity Anti-Bullying” activity, hoped that they can gain more support, to give back to the community.
The press conference that Peng held with the press had gotten everybody’s attention, the former mayor of the city of Taichung, Chih-Chiang Hu said, that cyberbullying is atrocious, “you hurt others, without taking responsibilities, and this will only lower the society’s sense of value, do we keep on tolerating this?”
Peng disclosed, that in the recent five months leading up to his younger sister’s death, the family had accompanied Yang to receive treatments, from the hospitals, to the clinics, to the hospital’s suicide prevention center, it couldn’t help his younger sister see the light; he hoped, that nobody will need to live with the consequences of having to bury one’s own young again, and so, he’d decided, to share the words that Yo-Ying Yang left for her fans.
Pen stated Yang’s own analysis of what caused her emotional ups and down the most, the “trash talking cyberbullying ways”, these are anonymous, and far from the truths, and, even IF one shouted back, it may exacerbate the sentiments of being singled out, being hated.
What she couldn’t believe, was that the rumors were spread, by those who were her friends, and, after the words surfaced online, they’d turned, to console her, to tell her not to mind, it’d troubled her so, and she didn’t know who she could trust anymore.
He’d stated, that his younger sister mentioned, that everybody will lie, to protect oneself, but, DO remember, that nobody can fool anybody, and you can’t fool yourselves, “I will be taking the truth with me, elsewhere, everybody has their own separate hell”; hoped, that her death can make the public more aware and pay more attention to the verbal bullying.
Peng said, everybody kept telling his younger sister, to ignore, to not look at those bad words that people are saying about her, and he was so regretful, that his baby sister couldn’t get out from under it. Although his younger sister wanted to know who started these attacks on her, but the family is not directed toward any person in particular, or any certain websites, just hoped, that those who’d sent in articles to, those who’d given out Kudos, those who’d read the messages to know, that “don’t think, that a few words wouldn’t do any harm, and don’t be an accomplice of verbal cyberbullying”.
And so, this, is the AFTERMATH of the young actress’s suicide, which was caused by cyberbullying, and, because someone well-known had committed suicide, and, the family felt so much loss from her death, that, is why the older brother is stepping out, and bringing these issues to the public’s awareness, but, there are, a TON of nameless others who are currently being bullied online, and, those who’d committed suicide too, but, because the rest of those aren’t famous like this person, that, is why their cases don’t get talked about…
