The Four Major Social Networks are Also, the Hotspot of Bullying

The DOWN SIDE of INTERNET here, from the Front Page Sections, in light of the actress’s suicide, translated…

The twenty-four year-old actress committed suicide because she was being bullied online, and at her workplace, it’d shed light on how cyberbullying is no longer limited in the schools anymore, that there’s NO age, gender, or status discrimination of those victims of cyberbullying.

Based off of the medium which the people in country used, there are four kinds of cyberbullying: on Facebook, on LINE, on Plurk, and, on PTT.  The characteristics of cyberbullying on FB is that there’s NO boundaries, easily shared.  And because there are Facebook users all over the world, they can spread the bullying to the friends of friends, of friends, of one’s own Facebook friends, which differs from the traditional ways of bullying, limited to a certain department, inside the companies, the trash talk may be heard by everybody the person has contact with, the competitors, or the ones that provided the goods for the person’s company.

Bullying using LINE has the qualities of “in-the-moment action” and speedy execution.  Especially these days, the employees of a lot of the companies are separated into groups on LINE, and, when you direct those nasty words toward a member of a group, then, it’d become a kind of “public execution” of the person, and, the one being criticized, if s/he replies to the comments, s/he must consider if the replies are valid, and if the bullied person didn’t reply right away, then, s/he is silence for good.

Bullying using Plurk, and private groups on LINE belonged to the “invisible fear” and “Small cliques” kind of bullying.  Because Plurk has a “privacy” setting, only the one who’d posted the article can see, along with the specified persons that the one who posted allowed to view can see, the one being criticized may know that s/he is being criticized, but have NO clue of what the criticisms are about, and thus, develops anxiety over the matter.

In the small cliques of these social networks, with the group members, trading their thoughts on the one being judged, and, they’re unknowingly “sharing” this negative experience, and, the hatred, animosity toward that certain individual is also, inflamed.

The characteristic of bullying using PTT is “public defamation” and “media bullying”, because those interacting on PTT are mostly unrelated strangers, and, they’d not watch the rash words they’re using in criticizing, and, it’s easily spread, into the public via media, plus, the news reporters would often find news stories from these PTT discussion boards, the one being criticized can easily become the public’s attention, and, before the truth had busted out, the witch hunt had begun, and the person’s reputations are damaged and irreparable.

And so, which one have you used?  And this, would be one of the MANY bad things, about how well we’re all connected, online, thanks to the developments, the inventions of things like Facebook, Plurk, Discussion Forum Boards or whatever, and, nobody realize, that hey, I’m talkin’ TRASH and, the TRASH talk I’m doing may HURT someone else, because we’d all hide, behind this laptop screen, and so, that, is how this cyberbullying is still EXACERBATING…
